I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted” (Job 42:2)
I recently met with a couple who lives in one of the most dangerous places in the world for the purpose of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our conversation reminded me of the C.S. Lewis classic series, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, in which a dialogue occurs about Aslan the Lion, who represents Christ. The conversation was between a child named, Susan, and Mr. Beaver. Susan asked Mr. Beaver if Aslan was quite safe. Mr. Beaver’s response still impacts my own soul: “Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
Have we forgotten that children of God are not called to safety and security? Have we forgotten that we are also thoroughly indestructible until we have completed the task that God has called us to? Let us live in such a way that we recognize that our lives are built upon the promises of God and that His purposes will not be thwarted.
