Today in our prayer time we’re going to Las Vegas. But not to the casinos and light places you see in ads.
Drive a few miles southwest of the Strip and you come to Henderson. That’s where our two missionaries, Joseph and Kristen Gibbons, have planted a thriving new church.
Alabama natives Joseph and Kristen were in another church. But when they took a youth group to Las Vegas, they met a 13-year-old girl who lived on the street. They learned teenage homelessness is one of many problems afflicting the area. They saw firsthand how urgently new churches are needed in and around Las Vegas.
So Joseph, Kristen and their team planted Favor City Church in 2021. Now the church has more than 150 attending. They happily baptize new believers in a metal horse trough they haul into the school where they meet Sundays. They’ve also trained a church planter who will plant a church in a nearby community.
Our church is supporting Joseph, Kristen and their two children through the Cooperative Program. Let’s pray and ask God to bless their ministry so thousands will respond to the gospel.
