The holidays provide a ready-made opportunity to minister to international missionaries as they are often separated from loved ones. During this season, consider how your family, small group, or church can care for our missionaries.
Pray
-
Pray for the health and safety of our missionaries serving in hard places, apart from family during the holidays.
-
Pray that God will use each missionary to tell His story among the nations this Christmas season. And as Jesus is lifted up, pray that all men will be drawn to Him.
-
Pray for our retired missionaries who spent their lives serving overseas. Ask God to bless them in their aging years as they continue to be a witness for Him.
-
Pray that churches will give generously to the mission effort this Christmas season. 100% of the Lottie Moon offering goes to provide for your missionaries.
In Your Community
Remember the missionaries sent out from your church. Work with your Sunday School class or small group to find way to bless your missionaries this Christmas.
- Host a breakfast and invite a missionary speaker.
- Consider how your family, small group, or church can reach out to a missionary family from your church by sending a care package to encourage them.
- Connect with a missionary to pray for and support them. Contact Brad Russell (missions@sbcv.org) for more details.
- Send the gift of encouragement through cards and letters to our new missionaries preparing to go, our current overseas missionaries, and our retired missionaries. Many feel alone, especially during the holiday season.
In the SBCV
One of the best ways to love our missionaries is by giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. This offering is unique from other mission offerings in that 100% of gifts go directly to our missionaries all over the world. It is a valuable part of Southern Baptists’ 179-year history of reaching the nations with the Gospel and vital to reaching the vision of a multitude from every language, people, tribe, and nation knowing and worshipping our Lord Jesus Christ (Revelations 7:9).
Encourage a Missionary
This holiday season, won’t you take a moment to send words of encouragement and appreciation to newly appointed missionaries preparing to go, career missionaries serving overseas, or retired missionaries here at home? Your thoughtful, handwritten notes show how much you care and will be an encouragement in ways you may never know.
Cards can be sent to:
